One Fewer God

When someone makes this argument the first counter should be, "so what?" I mean, what does saying "I believe in one fewer god than you," prove? Does it prove that there's no God?

No. The intent of that statement is not to disprove God. It is to point out that you are an atheist too as regards every other god claimed by man. Allah. Buddha. Zeus. Krishna. You deny their existence. In a way it is saying, you are a hypocrite.
