Tribal Warfare
In the evolution of humans we began to explain the world around us by imagining the existence of invisible forces with intent (dieties). These imaginings had value as a survival strategy in that they strengthened community bonds in a variety of ways. A diety could be said to confer authority to a certian individual in the group (king) or class of people (priests). It could be explained that survival individually or as a group was dependant on the pleasure or displeasure of the diety and personal responsibility to follow certian beneficial rules (some truly beneficial, some beneficial to the ruling class) thereby reinforced.
At the same time physical laws were observed and harnessed into useful tools that further enhanced survival.
Jump forward 10,000 generations. Today two tribes have emerged. One tribe follows the ancient survival strategy of a unifying diety(s). Another has emerged, only a few generations old now in comparison, that looks at the world differently. It's survival strategy is based on understanding the mechanics of the physical world and harnessing them to enhance survivability. The new tribe's survival strategy is so powerful in ......
