Edward Gordon, Christian Supremacist

Christians, real Christians, are the greatest possible life form in the universe

I left a comment:
Edward, I stumbled upon your post over at Apostate Chapel. Thank you. It brought back so many memories of Pentecostal Youth Camp. I grew up in a small church full of poor and lower-middle class (not to mention wonderful and good-hearted) people. The sense of powerlessness in regards to the larger world around us simmered just under the steadfast belief in ultimate triumph over the godless world we found ourselves huddling from. Youth Camp was one of these gathering I frequented.

I remember how exciting it was to watch the small town preacher at camp take a piece of re-bar and smash a flower pot on stage to show us how WE were going to rule over the godless nations with Christ one day.

Eventually I became a missionary, serving overseas for 20 years, under a less violent rubric of "Discipling Nations." A form of evangelism that goes beyond mere soul-winning to the transformation of society and government into a theocratic rule (through the discipled hearts of men). It feels good to know you are part of something big AND ordained by Christ himself.

I remember I took a team to a very small island in the Pacific for an outreach, and by "chance" (to use the King James phrase) another Christian group showed up the next day. We welcomed them and joined forced, but I was amused by their mission statement: "We are not leaving this island until everyone here is either a Christian or not." I thought, well then you could leave now successful. Actually, they left successful a week later.

Now I am, I guess, what you would call an atheist, although I really think of myself more specifically as a Yahwatheist, since I suspect we have much the same beliefs regarding the existence of Allah, Krishna, Pele, Zeus, Mithras, Ra and the Mormon God the Father, just to name a few.

I understand from your post that your mission is to destroy my lack of belief in Yehweh/Jesus/God and to then to subjugate me as a second class citizen and dominate and rule over me. For a thought. For a belief. I am confused about how this works out. If my lack of belief is destroyed, that means I am a believer (although not necessarily a Believer) but certainly not an atheist. So how can you rule over atheists if you have destroyed their lack of belief? There wouldn't be any atheists to rule over, right? We'd just be common non-Christians. Which far out number atheists. FAR. So why pick on atheists?

I understand that a common non-Christian who believes in God and Jesus but hasn't been born again, while lacking the superior traits of the Real Christian, still affirms your faith in God. Conversely the atheists lack of acknowledgment of God stands as a challenge to your belief, but since these non-Christian God-believers out number atheists 10 to 1 wouldn't your energies be better served in focusing your war on their much more aggregious fault of acknowledging God but refusing to serve him?

How awful is that? Consider the difference between, "I haven't seen sufficient evidence to warrant belief in God, therefore I doubt his existence", and "Yes I believe in God, but from everything I have seen he is clearly not worth serving".

Islam has the doctrine of Dhimmitude. All people before Islam have three options. 1) convert to Islam, 2) die, 3) retain your religion and accept second-class status in subjugation under the local Muslim believers. One difference between their doctrine and yours is their most faithful adherents are willing to kill and die to make sure everyone on the planet either is a believer or not.

Frankly I find your statements so over the top - even though I know they are the unspoken thoughts of millions of powerless feeling Christians - that I almost suspect your postings are satirical or parodies. Or constructed for fun to stir up atheists. Regardless it is great fun. I'll be back often.
